Multiple myeloma is a hematologic malignancy characterized by the clonal proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow, and usually the presence of a monoclonal immunoglobulin in the blood and/or urine. It is the second most commonly diagnosed hematologic malignancy with an annual incidence of 15.000 respectively in the United States.
