> 10% monoclonal plasma cells in the marrow or biopsy proven plasmacytoma
Monoclonal protein in the serum and/or urine
Myeloma related dysfunction of at least one organ system

Multiple myeloma is a hematologic malignancy characterized by the clonal proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow, and usually the presence of a monoclonal immunoglobulin in the blood and/or urine.
